The canopy is what determines colour fastness, weather resistance, and your parasol’s overall look season after season. Each material meets a different level of performance. It is up to you to choose the one that best suits your lifestyle and project.
Our parasol automatically adjusts to the wind thanks to our unique, patented system, so you can enjoy every moment outdoors, even when the wind makes an appearance.
Adjust the canopy’s tilt or rotate it 360° around the pole. Follow the sun and move the shade wherever you need it. With our rotating base and ergonomic crank handle, the whole family can easily adjust the parasol.
The cross base is included.

WarrantiesThe Mistral 3x4m wind-resistant cantilever parasol has an aluminium frame treated for corrosion resistance, with internal steel reinforcements. The flexible ribs are made from fiberglass. You can tilt the canopy of your parasol, and the mast rotates 360°. Opening and closing is made easier with a removable aluminium crank.
You can choose from three different canopy materials for your parasol. All of them offer the highest level of sun protection (UPF 50+).
Our Acrylic canopy has a thickness of 270g/m². It is our thickest fabric, making it the most resistant to handling and the passage of time. It is also distinguished by its premium finish: a dense texture, intense colours (solution-dyed fibres) that remain stable over time (7-year warranty), and an elegant outdoor presence. Highly water-repellent, the acrylic canopy can withstand normal rainfall for very long periods, and even heavy or thundery rain for several hours. This is the canopy we recommend if you are looking for something truly enduring.
Our Olefin canopy is 50% recycled and has a thickness of 190g/m². It offers a significant upgrade with its matte finish and silky touch, enhancing both your parasol and your outdoor space. The fabric is solution-dyed to ensure excellent colour fastness over time (5-year warranty). Water-repellent, the Olefin canopy repels water and dries in the blink of an eye after a shower or poolside splashes. It can withstand normal rainfall for a few hours but is not designed for protection against heavy downpours.
Our Polyester canopy is 100% recycled and has a thickness of 210g/m². It provides the essentials: effective and immediate sun protection. It is suited to those seeking a functional and accessible solution for enjoying the shade. With its high-shine finish, it is treated to limit fading. However, some colour fading may occur within a few months under intensive use. The polyester canopy can withstand normal rainfall for a few hours but is not designed for protection against heavy downpours.

The structure of the Mistral 3x4m wind-resistant cantilever parasol is covered by a 3-year warranty. We guarantee all our canopies against fading and manufacturing defects for 2 years. Olefin and acrylic canopies come with extended fading warranties: 5 years for olefin and 10 years for acrylic.
To keep your parasol in good condition, here are some care tips:
Care Instructions:
Regularly rinse with fresh water. Use a sponge and mild soap (like black soap) for the routine cleaning of the structure. Avoid using abrasive products or brushes for cleaning. If the paint and undercoat are deeply scratched, apply a waterproof varnish (clear or matching the product colour, ideally bi-component) to prevent water and air penetration and rust formation.
For the cover: Clean stains as soon as they appear to prevent them from setting. For delicate care, hand wash: soak the canopy in warm water mixed with 150ml of mild soap per litre, gently scrub with a sponge or soft brush, then rinse thoroughly and allow it to air dry. For tougher stains (except polyester canopies), a diluted bleach solution can be used: mix 1 litre of water, 150ml of mild soap, and 5cl of bleach in a spray bottle, apply to the entire canopy, leave for 10 minutes, scrub with a sponge, and rinse thoroughly. Alternatively, machine wash: remove the cover, zip it closed, and wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle with your usual detergent. If mildew is present, add 5cl of bleach (except for polyester) and start the machine immediately to properly dilute the product. Once cleaned, always let the canopy dry in the open air. Lastly, never store or close your parasol when the canopy is still damp to avoid mildew, and keep it away from reflective surfaces or heating elements that could damage it.
Winter Care:
Store the parasol in a dry, sheltered place. Protective covers are available for purchase on our website.

At Belveo, we offer three different canopy materials for your parasol. While all provide maximum sun protection (UPF 50+), the choice depends on your specific needs:
- Fabric thickness (and therefore durability)
- Colour fastness over time
- Aesthetic finish (look and feel)
-Water repellency (resistance to the British weather)
ACRYLIC CANOPY: The Belveo Signature
Our Acrylic canopy is 270g/m² thick—our densest and most resilient fabric. It stands out for its premium finish: a rich texture and vibrant colours (solution-dyed fibres) that remain stable for years (7-year warranty). Highly water-repellent, it can withstand normal rain for extended periods and heavy downpours or storms for several hours. This is the canopy we recommend for those seeking ultimate long-term stability.
Is this for you?
- Homeowners: If your outdoor space is exposed to the elements and you want peace of mind with the longest possible lifespan, Acrylic is the best choice.
-Professionals: (Hotels, architects, restaurants, etc.) If you are equipping a public space, Acrylic is the industry standard for durability and style.
Pros:
- Superior look and feel
- 7-year colour warranty
- Excellent water repellency (withstands heavy rain)
- Fabric is 40% thicker than other materials
Cons:
- Available in 3 exclusive colours only (Anthracite Grey, Taupe, Ivory)
OLEFIN CANOPY: The perfect balance
Our Olefin canopy is 50% recycled and 190g/m² thick. It offers a significant aesthetic upgrade with its matte finish and silky touch, enhancing any garden or patio. The fabric is solution-dyed to ensure excellent colour fastness over time (5-year warranty). Water-repellent and quick-drying, it easily handles light showers or poolside splashes.
Is this for you? If you are looking for a beautiful, refined parasol that maintains its colour and appearance for many seasons, Olefin is an excellent choice.
Pros:
- Refined matte appearance and soft touch
- 5-year colour warranty
Cons:
- Standard water repellency (best for light rain)
- Lighter fabric weight
POLYESTER CANOPY: Essential Protection
Our Polyester canopy is 100% recycled and 210g/m² thick. It provides the essentials: effective and immediate sun protection. It is a functional and accessible choice for those looking for simple shade. With its high-shine finish, it is treated to resist fading, though some fading may occur within a few months under intensive use.
Is this for you? If you need a purely functional, entry-level parasol to enjoy the shade at an accessible price point.
Pros:
- Price/Value for money
Cons:
- Subject to colour fading over time
- Standard water repellency (not suitable for heavy rain)
- Standard fabric density
Our parasol canopies are water-repellent, meaning they will resist light rain, but may not hold up in heavy downpours (such as a thunderstorm). Unlike fully waterproof fabrics, our water-repellent material is designed to allow airflow, preventing a greenhouse effect under the canopy during hot weather. So while the parasol can handle light rain, it’s not intended to act as an umbrella. Even in a heavy rainstorm, the parasol will remain unharmed, though we recommend using a protective cover to keep the canopy in good condition over time.
Belveo parasols are built to withstand strong winds, thanks to our durable materials and patented design. Each parasol undergoes rigorous testing during manufacturing to meet ISO 2859 standards, ensuring excellent quality. We prefer real-world testing, as it better simulates the challenges posed by nature compared to standard wind tunnel tests. In our trials, the parasols withstood winds of up to 90km/h in real-world conditions. However, it’s worth noting that the type of wind matters—constant winds of 50km/h can sometimes be more challenging than short gusts at 90km/h.
To keep your parasol safe and in top condition, we recommend:
- Using sufficient ballast (base plates or ground anchoring).
- Closing the parasol if the base becomes unstable or if the canopy is billowing.
- Avoid using the parasol in winds over 60km/h when open or 80km/h when closed.
By following these simple guidelines, you can enjoy your parasol with peace of mind.
All our cantilever parasols come with a cross base, but ballast is required for stability and is not included. We offer several ballast options to suit your needs:
- Fillable Base Slabs: Our base slabs (50x50cm) can be filled with water or sand. Note that sand is heavier than water, making it more effective for stabilising the parasol. For a cantilever parasol, we recommend a ballast weight of 100kg (4 base plates, each weighing at least 25kg) or 120kg for a 3x4m model, using sand. Keep in mind that once wet, the sand cannot be removed. The ballast should cover a floor area of 1m².
- Fixed Bases: For those looking to save space, we offer a fixed base option. This allows you to ballast your parasol without taking up extra room.
- Wheeled Bases: If mobility is important, our wheeled base is a great choice for cantilever parasols. Filled with water and/or sand, it provides excellent stability while making it easy to move the parasol.
To ensure secure and long-lasting use, please follow our ballast guidelines according to the parasol model and your space configuration. Our recommendations can be found on the product technical sheets. Feel free to reach out for personalised advice.
