INSTALLING YOUR PARASOL

Before you begin installation, make sure to clean and prepare your installation area by protecting the ground (using cardboard, for example) to place your parasol parts. Pay particular attention to the aluminium parts, as they may get scratched. When opening the boxes, avoid using a cutter or any blade that could damage your product.

What should you use to weight the slabs of your parasol?

You can weight your parasol slabs (i.e., fill them) with either water or sand. However, note that sand is denser than water, so your slabs will be heavier this could be an important factor if you plan to move your parasol or slabs frequently. The heavier the weight, the more stable the parasol will be against the wind. Therefore, we recommend using sand when possible.

If you have a 3x4m cantilever parasol, it is essential to fill the Ostro slabs with sand to reach a minimum weight of 120kg. You can then top it up with water to reach the maximum weight. Please note that once wet, the sand cannot be removed from the slabs.

If you’re in a very wind-exposed area, we recommend using our wheeled bases, if possible, as they are heavier once weighted (i.e., once filled with water and/or sand) compared to our slabs.
