Materials
The Aura 3x3m wind-resistant centre-pole parasol features an aluminium structure treated for corrosion resistance, with internal steel reinforcements. The flexible ribs are made of fibreglass. Opening and closing are made easy with an aluminium crank.
You have three fabric options for your parasol, all of which are water-resistant and UV-resistant:
Our 100% recycled polyester canopy is the most accessible option. With its glossy finish, it is treated to minimize fading. However, some fading may occur after a few months with heavy use. This is the ideal choice for accessing Belveo's wind-resistant technology at a lower cost.
Our olefin canopy, with its matte finish and soft touch, offers the best value for money. Its fibres are dyed throughout to ensure optimal colour durability. It is also stain-resistant, mould-resistant, and made in Spain.
Our acrylic canopy, with a premium aesthetic finish, is our top-of-the-line option. Designed to preserve the vibrancy of its colours, it is suited for professional use. This micro-perforated fabric provides a refreshing sensation under the parasol, even on the hottest days. It is also stain-resistant, mould-resistant, and made in Spain.
Warranties and maintenance
The structure of the Aura 3x3m wind-resistant centre-pole parasol is covered by a 3-year warranty. We guarantee all our canopies against fading and manufacturing defects for 2 years. Olefin and acrylic canopies come with extended fading warranties: 5 years for olefin and 10 years for acrylic.
To keep your parasol in good condition, here are some care tips:
Care Instructions:
Regularly rinse with fresh water. Use a sponge and mild soap (like black soap) for the routine cleaning of the structure. Avoid using abrasive products or brushes for cleaning. If the paint and undercoat are deeply scratched, apply a waterproof varnish (clear or matching the product colour, ideally bi-component) to prevent water and air penetration and rust formation.
For the cover: Clean stains as soon as they appear to prevent them from setting. For delicate care, hand wash: soak the canopy in warm water mixed with 150ml of mild soap per litre, gently scrub with a sponge or soft brush, then rinse thoroughly and allow it to air dry. For tougher stains (except polyester canopies), a diluted bleach solution can be used: mix 1 litre of water, 150ml of mild soap, and 5cl of bleach in a spray bottle, apply to the entire canopy, leave for 10 minutes, scrub with a sponge, and rinse thoroughly. Alternatively, machine wash: remove the cover, zip it closed, and wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle with your usual detergent. If mildew is present, add 5cl of bleach (except for polyester) and start the machine immediately to properly dilute the product. Once cleaned, always let the canopy dry in the open air. Lastly, never store or close your parasol when the canopy is still damp to avoid mildew, and keep it away from reflective surfaces or heating elements that could damage it.
Winter Care:
Store the parasol in a dry, sheltered place. Protective covers are available for purchase on our website.

What’s the difference between polyester, olefin, and acrylic canopies?
We offer three types of canopies to suit your needs:
- Polyester canopy: Ideal for a first purchase, it offers excellent value for money. It has a light and glossy finish, but may fade more quickly with heavy use or prolonged sun exposure. It’s an affordable option to experience our patented innovation.
- Olefin canopy: Our best balance of aesthetics, durability, and price. The colour is integrated into the fibres, ensuring it stays vibrant for years and resists fading (5-year warranty). With a matte finish and soft touch, it resembles indoor fabrics while providing the durability needed for outdoor use. Water-resistant, it quickly sheds moisture, dries instantly after a shower, and resists splashes from poolside days. Easy to clean, it can be washed with soapy water or machine washed at 30°C.
- Acrylic canopy: The premium choice, offering exceptional performance in the toughest conditions. Through a mass-dyeing process, the colour pigments are integrated directly into the acrylic fibre while still liquid, creating a deeply coloured thread. This results in vibrant colours that resist UV rays and the elements far better than standard surface-dyed fabrics. We are so confident in the quality of this canopy that it comes with a 10-year fading warranty. It strikes the perfect balance between performance and elegance, ideal for long-term, intensive, or professional use.
Additionally, all our canopies are interchangeable: whether you want to change the colour or replace a worn-out canopy, the process is simple and quick to extend the life of your parasol.
Can I use the parasol in the rain?
Our parasol canopies are water-repellent, meaning they will resist light rain, but may not hold up in heavy downpours (such as a thunderstorm). Unlike fully waterproof fabrics, our water-repellent material is designed to allow airflow, preventing a greenhouse effect under the canopy during hot weather. So while the parasol can handle light rain, it’s not intended to act as an umbrella. Even in a heavy rainstorm, the parasol will remain unharmed, though we recommend using a protective cover to keep the canopy in good condition over time.
How wind-resistant is the parasol?
Belveo parasols are built to withstand strong winds, thanks to our durable materials and patented design. Each parasol undergoes rigorous testing during manufacturing to meet ISO 2859 standards, ensuring excellent quality. We prefer real-world testing, as it better simulates the challenges posed by nature compared to standard wind tunnel tests. In our trials, the parasols withstood winds of up to 90km/h in real-world conditions. However, it’s worth noting that the type of wind matters—constant winds of 50km/h can sometimes be more challenging than short gusts at 90km/h.
To keep your parasol safe and in top condition, we recommend:
- Using sufficient ballast (base plates or ground anchoring).
- Closing the parasol if the base becomes unstable or if the canopy is billowing.
- Avoid using the parasol in winds over 60km/h when open or 80km/h when closed.
By following these simple guidelines, you can enjoy your parasol with peace of mind.
Is ballast included? What type of ballast do I need?
All centre-pole parasols come with a cross base, except for 1 model: the 3x2m centre-pole parasol. Therefore, you will need to purchase a cross base if you wish to weight your parasol with slabs. Weighting is not included with our parasols, but it is essential for their stability. We offer several solutions tailored to your needs:
- Fillable Base Slabs: Our base slabs (50x50cm) can be filled with water or sand. Note that sand is heavier than water, making it more effective for stabilising the parasol. For a cantilever parasol, we recommend a ballast weight of 100kg (4 base plates, each weighing at least 25kg) or 120kg for a 3x4m model, using sand. Keep in mind that once wet, the sand cannot be removed. The ballast should cover a floor area of 1m².
- Wheeled Bases: If mobility is important, our wheeled base is a great choice for cantilever parasols. Filled with water and/or sand, it provides excellent stability while making it easy to move the parasol.
To ensure secure and long-lasting use, please follow our ballast guidelines according to the parasol model and your space configuration. Our recommendations can be found on the product technical sheets. Feel free to reach out for personalised advice.
